Godfrey Pembroke’s history
Godfrey Pembroke has been helping Australians grow and enjoy their wealth since 1995, following the merger of two large Australian financial planning groups: Godfrey Weston (established in 1981) and Pembroke Financial Planners (established in 1986). The vision was to create a business aimed at providing tailored financial advice.
In July 1999, Godfrey Pembroke joined the MLC family of specialist advisory firms. Together, we became part of the National Australia Bank group in April 2000, significantly expanding the breadth of research and investment solutions available to our clients. As a NAB/MLC owned national licensee of self-employed financial advisers, Godfrey Pembroke is an industry leader in providing strategic financial advice to clients on a fee for advice basis across all investment products.
Today, Godfrey Pembroke combines the personalised service and specialist expertise of a boutique adviser with the strength, security and scale that comes from being part of one of Australia’s most trusted financial institutions.

While we are part of the Godfrey Pembroke family, we are also an individually owned business and our own bosses. Therefore, you can be confident that our advice is both personalised and objective, and that your best interests are our first priority.

Transparent fee for service
In 2006, Godfrey Pembroke led the industry in introducing a transparent fee for advice model. When you engage us, we will clearly set out the fees you can expect to pay and the benefits you can expect to receive in return, only acting with your explicit approval. We never take commissions on investment products from the financial institutions that provide them.
Underpinning these moves is a central tenet of the Godfrey Pembroke philosophy; the client deserves transparency and the conviction that all recommendations provided are driven by needs alone.
All Godfrey Pembroke clients can already withdraw from their financial planning agreement with one month’s written notice, and all clients have the opportunity to ‘opt in’ to advice every two years.

In early meetings, we will work closely with you to understand your situation. A comprehensive assessment designed to identify opportunities as well as areas for creating greater efficiencies is then drawn up.
Then we will collaborate with you to optimise your plan, integrating your aims with a mix of financial strategies, products and personal and investment disciplines.
Once your plan has been implemented, we will meet you with you regularly, measuring progress against your goals and needs. On an ongoing basis, we will carefully review your plan to ensure it is still relevant and adapt to any changes in your objectives.
